Plusieurs membres du R\u00e9seau qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois de microscopie \u00e9lectronique des mat\u00e9riaux \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents \u00e0 l&rsquo;Institut Interdisciplinaire d&rsquo;Innovation Technologique (3IT) pour le lancement officiel du microscope \u00e9lectronique \u00e0 balayage \u00e0 faisceau d\u2019ondes focalis\u00e9es (FIB) et du microscope \u00e9lectronique en transmission (M\u00c9T).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These microscopes, made available because of the collaboration between different nodes of the network, the partner universities, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Minist\u00e8re de l'\u00c9conomie, de l'innovation et de l'\u00e9nergie, are accessible to all members of the RQMEM to help research in advanced materials, train highly qualified students and professionals, et stimulate collaboration within the Network and the province of Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"coupure symbolique du ruban sur microscope \u00e9lectronique lors de l&apos;inauguration de la plateforme de microscopie du 3IT Mat\u00e9riaux\" class=\"wp-image-4039 size-full\"  title=\"Des interfaces aux atomes - Inauguration de la plateforme de microscopie 3IT.Mat\u00e9riaux\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/3iT-Materiaux-2438.jpg 1620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The present members, including node directors and node microscopists, assisted to a symbolistic chord cutting, directly from the transmission electron microscope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3IT.Material platform benefited from a funding of millions of dollars to build 1 000 m<sup>2<\/sup> of net laboratory surface, 300 m<sup>2<\/sup> of office surface for the highly qualified personal and a new landing stage. Other than the room dedicated to the transmission electron microscope, a room for the FIB and a sample preparation room (cutting, polishing, electropolishing, light microscopy), some room is still available for future equipment for material characterisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3IT.Materials is now a pillar of microelectronics, nanotechnology, quantum and advanced materials, energy devices research, to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The microscopes inaugurated make many analysis possible in high resolution imagery, crystallographic analysis and elementar and chemical phase analysis. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-6388d5dc\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les \u00e9quipements dans la plateforme de microscopie 3IT.Mat\u00e9riaux<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/en\/equipement\/scios-sem-fib\/\">Scanning electron microscope and focalised ion beam (SEM\/FIB)<\/a> <\/strong>permet l\u2019observation de la morphologie de surface, la d\u00e9coupe au faisceau d\u2019ions, la tomographie par d\u00e9coupe de plans en plus d\u2019analyses chimique par EDS. Ce Scios 2 SEM-FIB de ThermoFisher est aliment\u00e9 par un canon FEG Schottky. \u00a0Ses d\u00e9tecteurs et spectrom\u00e8tres permettent l\u2019analyse des \u00e9lectrons secondaires, \u00e9lectrons secondaires filtr\u00e9s et \u00e9lectrons r\u00e9trodiffus\u00e9s en plus de faire la spectroscopie de rayons-X pour une composition ou cartographie des mat\u00e9riaux. Cet appareil permet les micromanipulations telle la d\u00e9coupe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de la microstructure ou l\u2019observation sous une surface recouverte ou cach\u00e9e. Il permet \u00e9galement la fabrication de lames minces transparentes aux \u00e9lectrons pour le M\u00c9T-TEM. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rqmem.recherche.usherbrooke.ca\/en\/equipement\/tem-spectra-200\/\">The transmission electron microscope (TEM)<\/a> <\/strong>quant \u00e0 lui, peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour la visualisation des mat\u00e9riaux jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle atomique, pour la diffraction d\u2019\u00e9lectrons et la cartographie chimique (par EDS ou EELS). Le Spectra 200 de ThermoFisher est muni d\u2019un Canon Cold-FEG corrig\u00e9 en aberration sph\u00e9rique. Il permet d\u2019atteindre une r\u00e9solution aussi basse que 60 pm. <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>The sample holder allows <em>in situ <\/em>analysis up to 1 atm or 1 000&nbsp;<sup>o<\/sup>C en pr\u00e9sence ou non d\u2019un biais \u00e9lectronique impos\u00e9 par des micro\u00e9lectrodes. Ce porte-\u00e9chantillon permet donc des observations lors de l\u2019\u00e9volution de la micro-nanostructure dans des conditions r\u00e9actives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Des images peuvent \u00eatre observ\u00e9es gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la cam\u00e9ra 4K Falcon (en mode imagerie ou diffraction), quatre spectrom\u00e8tres EDX entourant l\u2019\u00e9chantillon, une cam\u00e9ra pour la spectroscopie en perte d\u2019\u00e9nergie des \u00e9lectrons (K2-GIF-Continuum EELS) et ses d\u00e9tecteurs en transmission segment\u00e9 permettant l\u2019imagerie diff\u00e9rentielle de contraste (sur fond clair, fond sombre, annulaire ou annulaire \u00e0 grand angle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on the equipments available within the RQMEM,
