Raynald Gauvin is RQMEM's New Scientific Director

Raynald Gauvin is Quebec Network of Electron Microscopy for Materials's new scientific director. Prof Gauvin took over this role following the end of Nadi Braidy's term as scientific director. We warmly thank Professor Braidy for the unifying accomplishment that has connected several Quebec researchers in a unique way.
Raynald Gauvin, an Experimented Scientific Director!
Raynald Gauvin has been a professor in the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University since 2001. He specializes in the development of novel methods to characterize material microstructures using high-resolution scanning electron microscopy with X-ray microanalysis and Monte Carlo simulations.
Over the course of his career, Professor Gauvin has published more than 700 articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings and has presented at more than 400 international conferences, 150 times as a guest speaker. His scientific leadership experience is already extensive, including the presidency of the Inter-American Committee of Societies on Electron Microscopy (CIASEM, 2009-2011), the Microbeam Analysis Society (MAS, 2005-2006), the Microscopy Society of Canada (MSC-SMC, 2001-2003) and the International Union of the Microbeam Analysis Societies (IUMAS, 2000-2005).
Professor Gauvin was nominated as scientific director due to his expertise and vision, in line with the Network's values. Congratulations to Raynald for this nomination, we wish him lots of success during this term!
